Spirit - The SEVENTH FIRE OPENS JULY 9TH AT BOSTON'S FLEET CENTER
2005 TOUR ENDS FIVE-WEEK RUN IN PHILADELPHIA TO
CRITICAL RAVES AND AUDIENCE EXHILARATION
New York, NY June 16, 2004 -- Spirit - The Seventh Fire is soaring through the last week of shows in Philadelphia, playing to critical raves and audiences overflowing with praise. The 2005 Spirit Tour continues in Boston, MA, opening July 9th on the FleetCenter grounds. Traveling in its own custom-built, 750-seat, fully-enclosed theater, Spirit is truly an immersive experience as KYW / CBS Philadelphia heralds an "event you won't want to miss!"
Spirit - The Seventh Fire is a breathtaking show, combining world-renowned Native American dance in spectacular regalia, a live band with "guitar rolls that would put U2's The Edge to shame," (Philadelphia Inquirer) and a film component projected on three, giant, IMAX-style screens. WCAU / NBC Philadelphia raves that Spirit is "fantastic!" A "Wish You Were Here-era Pink Floyd take on Native American culture and practice," according to the Philadelphia City Paper.
Spirit, through dance, song, music and film tells the dramatic and uplifting story of one man's struggle to reconnect to his past by finding a balance between his pursuit of the "American Dream" and its trappings, and his roots rich in heritage, tradition and the natural world. The mystery, beauty and spirit of his ancestors bring him to a magical place where his past meets his present, emotions collide and choices are made. The Omaha World Herald proclaims Spirit a "masterpiece!"
Conceived by Peter Buffett, with music by Buffett and Chief Hawk Pope, Shawnee Chief of the United Remnant Band of Ohio, stage direction and original choreography by award-winning dancer and choreographer, Jody Ripplinger and Native American Dance Supervision by champion pow-wow veteran Marty Pinnecoose, (Southern Ute Jicalla Apache) Spirit enlisted an unprecedented production crew and world-renowned Native American cast for this landmark theatrical event.
