Philadelphia to Kickoff Spirit 2005 Tour on May 20th!

The Spirit - The Seventh Fire tour will launch on Friday, May 20th amongst the 9,100 acres of stream corridors, woodlands, meadows and wetlands which comprise Philly's world-famous Fairmount Park. The Spirit Theatre will be erected on Lemon Hill, which overlooks the Schuylkill River, scene of colorful regattas and dragon boat races.

We'll have all the dates, ticket information, show times, parking, maps and public transportation routes available for you very shortly.

Coaquannock - "Grove of Tall Pines"
We're pleased to be able to bring the new season to Coaquannock (or Philadelphia as it was later re-named), and we'd like to acknowledge our Native friends around the region and welcome them to our season premiere. The very life force of Philadelphia - the Delaware River, the Schuylkill River and the Wissahickon Waterway - the three main waterways, were named by Native Americans. When you come to see Spirit, be sure to also visit the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology and the Rosenbach Museum and Library.

A number of Native Americans residing in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and the District of Columbia are members of the Southeastern Cherokee Confederacy of Pennsylvania. In addition to the Cherokee Nations, other tribal groups represented by the Confederacy include: the Navajo, Cree, Seminole, Choctaw, and Creek. The organization hosts annual festivals, conducts lectures and workshops and offers classes on Cherokee language, traditions, drumming, bead work, finger weaving and Native American history and culture. Wherever Spirit travels, we reach out to the local Native Community for their invaluable assistance in creating workshops and public fora that bring the face and heart of Indian Country home to folks of all ages, all tribes.
